Our Vision & Mission

She Cares Foundation features thought-provoking workshops, series of community forums addressing a variety of diverse topics (legal resources, financial literacy, mental health support, health & nutrition & educational advocacy). She Cares Foundation will feature national experts that focus specifically on parenting independent mothers; mental health, education support, legal support and counsel, emotional support, and financial literacy. Our targeted goal is to build a learning network of 1,000 Independent moms within the initial two cities Chicago and Los Angeles. The cities were selected based on quality of life issues that impact independent mothers. She Cares Foundation is designed to provide a greater advocacy and support for single mothers. The Foundation seeks to address several alarming statistics that impact children from a single parent home as a whole. She Cares seek to increase awareness around the need to connect single mothers to greater access to services (mental health, financial literacy, strategies for parenting a child and strategies to support college tuition etc…). Although many of these women receive some support from the biological father and extended family members, an alarming number of these mothers do not receive any financial and or emotional support in raising their sons or daughters. While many of the statistics are daunting many mothers are successfully raising their sons in some of the toughest cities in America. According to Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2005, released by the U.S. Census Bureau in August, 2007, there are approximately 13.6 million single parents in the United States today, and those parents are responsible for raising 21.2 million children (approximately 26% of children under 21 in the U.S. today).

Our History

We work to uphold children’s rights as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), and around the world this work takes shape in a number of ways

Start an avocado orchard, send a child to school or invest in a single dairy cow and discover how far your investment dollars can go to assist families and vulnerable children in Tanzania, Africa.

At UNICEF Australia we work to protect and promote children’s rights by advocating for the rights of children in Australia and overseas, and engaging children in Australia in the concept of rights and how they can promote and respect the rights of other children.
